About Rick Brentlinger
Richard G. Brentlinger (1950–2024) was the author of the book Gay Christian 101, from which he derived the original gaychristian101.com website. Unfortunately for us, he left this world in 2024 and went home to be with his Creator. His family always had a hateful view toward Rick’s sexuality and his ministry to the homosexual community, and we believe they caused the shutdown of his website and the cessation of his book’s publication.
Much of the text on this website is derived from his original works, and we claim no copyright on what is presented here.
The sections below are direct quotes from his book.
What Rick believed
“I believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration and infallible authority of scripture.
“I believe every word of scripture, from the first In in Genesis to the last Amen in Revelation.
“I believe the human race, fallen in Adam, is lost and without hope, apart from God’s saving grace in Jesus Christ.
“I believe the holiness, love and mercy of God caused Him to redeem us through the blood of Jesus Christ, giving us hope.
“I believe Jesus Christ was God in the flesh, the way, the truth and the life, the only way to God the Father.
“I believe Jesus Christ resurrected physically, bodily, through the power of God and ascended to heaven where He alone is our heavenly Mediator.
“I believe God offers salvation through Jesus Christ, as a free gift, to everyone who will receive it in this life.
Why this book was written
“This book is written for millions of hurting gays and lesbians who grew up in Christian homes and Christian churches. It is also written for their parents, families and friends and for anyone who wants to understand and minister to a despised minority. It is written to reveal a loving God who reaches out to the despised, the rejected, the outcast.
“This book is written to bring hope to people who were cast out of church because of their sexual orientation. They are the ones who need assurance that the God of the Bible does not hate them. They are the ones who need to know that the God of scripture loves them with an everlasting love. They are the ones who need to respond to the loving call of a loving God, ‘Whosoever will may come.’ Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever your circumstances, it is important for you to know that Jesus Christ died to take away your sins, not your sexual orientation. Our resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ, invites you to come to Him just as you are. God’s promise of salvation is for everyone who will receive it.”
